Golden Chopsticks

I remember Mira Mesa when Mira Mesa Blvd ended at Parkdale.
I explored the wilderness past Parkdale on my bike with rarely a person out in the desolate landscape.
It was quiet back then with hardly any traffic.
The movie theatre was a 4 plex in Mira Mesa mall.
I remember a dirt lot where in 2022 Golden Chopstick would open in Mira Mesa.

In early 2022 a sign announced Golden Chopsticks would be opening soon.  I have been waiting all year for Golden Chopsticks to open.  The original location has delicious food but terrible parking.  The Mira Mesa location has lots of free parking.

Inside it’s new and shiny.
Menu looks brand new and appears identical to the National City one.
This visit I tried the wor won ton soup.  Shrimp had a snap to the texture and tasty shrimp flavor.  Beef was very tender with a light beef flavor.  Chicken was breast meat and very tender with light chicken flavor.  Won tons had a tasty pork flavor but could have been bigger.  Spinach was ok.  Overall this classic dish was very good.
Fried chicken wings had a very crunchy batter and tender perfectly fried chicken that was moist and full of delicious fried flavor.  Just the right amount of msg to give it a salty flavor but not so much I needed a pitcher of water.
Bbq pork chow mein with thin noodles had a delicious smoky aroma.  Bbq pork was tender with a tasty 5 spice powder based flavor.  Egg noodles had a delicious mild flavor.  Cabbage and bean sprouts added a fresh and crispy earthy flavor to keep this dish from being too salty.  Excellent meat to noodle ratio.
Yang chow fried rice had a mix of bbq pork, shrimp, and chicken.  Loved the tender bbq pork with 5 spice powder based flavor.  Shrimp and chicken were also tender with good flavor.  Delicious smoky flavor from the wok permeated this dish.  🙂  Excellent meat to rice ratio.

Peking pork chops were tender and bursting with flavor from being fried and basted with sweet and sticky Peking sauce.  One of my favorite dishes.
Owners and staff remembered me from visiting the National City location and were friendly providing excellent service.  Looks like I’ll be eating in Mira Mesa alot more.

  1. Happy to see they have a much closer location now! Wonderful food pictures!

    1. Thanks! You should go get some Peking pork chops!

  2. So, they finally opened, huh?

    1. Yes. You should give them a try. Everything I tried taste just like the original location.

  3. Great that they finally opened and they lived up to expectations. And you’re not kidding – the parking lot of the original in National City is usually a mess.

    1. It’s so relaxing just showing up, parking, and eating. At the National City location I would only go if I could plan a trip before 11am so I could find a parking spot.
