Niban

I remember coming here for a weekday lunch and there was a line out the door.  This time I came at opening time Saturday and there was one party in front of me.  Nice employees took my order and were quick getting it out.

Fried gyoza had a thin crunchy won ton wrapper with delicious meat and veggie filling.  Loved it.

Shrimp tempura had a crunchy tempura coating with tender juicy shrimp.  Very good.

The 2 appetizers made for a good size lunch.  Looks like opening time on the weekend is the best time to visit Niban.

2nd visit.  Fried shrimp came with a crunchy panko batter.  Loved the flavor and texture of the light and crumbly batter.  Shrimp were fresh and tasty.  My fav shrimp dish here.

Mixed yakisoba was a mix of chicken, shrimp, cabbage, and broccoli.  Egg noodles had a nice mild flavor enhanced by the classic yakisoba flavor of the sauce.  Chicken was tender and plentiful.  Shrimp were small and plentiful.  I enjoyed this dish and appreciated how there was alot of chicken and shrimp.

  1. I’d probably try any of the special rolls or the curry. That’s great you found so many dishes to like!

    1. They make some great tasting fried food.

  2. Niban is one of my favorite Japanese restaurants. Their specials are good, and I like their sushi and katsu curry. Years ago, there would be a line outside before they opened. I tend to go on a weekday when they first open, and nowadays, I rarely see many people waiting before opening time.

    1. I like how Niban still has prices from the old days. I visited at opening time on a Thursday and there was only one other group waiting. I guess people found other places to eat at. That’s great you are a loyal customer!

  3. Looks like the full package – great service and food and not priced at a million dollars like a lot of other things these days. I will add this to my list!

    1. Next time I want to try the fried snapper and a egg roll. 🙂

  4. We used to stop here regularly- lunch and dinner time; so many habits have changed because of Covid-19. The chicken katsu salad is an automatic order. Thanks for this reminder.

    1. You ae welcome! I love their fried food.
