Anthony’s Fish Grotto

Roy Batty: I’ve seen things you people wouldn’t believe. Attack ships on fire off the shoulder of Orion. I watched C-beams glitter in the dark near the Tannhauser gate. All those moments will be lost in time… like tears in rain… Time to die.

Orange glow of the sun fading into embers till night falls across the bay.  Whale watching boats motoring out to sea.  Raindrops falling down in sheets into glassy water.  All these moments and more I will take with me.  I will miss this place when Anthony’s lease expires in 2017.

If you don’t care about the carbs the free bread has delicious flavor and they keep them coming.

anthonys.7102Grilled halibut is flaky and juicy.  Has that nice distinctive halibut flavor.  I can tell it’s fresh.  French fries are the standard fast food fry cooked to perfection in good oil.  Potato flavor comes through strong without any aftertaste.

On another visit I tried the fish and shrimp combo.  Cod and shrimp have that same crunchy lightly salted tempura batter.  Very mild flavor from the tender flaky cod.  Shrimp were plump and juicy.  Anthony’s is very old school restaurant with classic dishes with consistent quality and very tasty flavors.  Time enough for a few more dinners…

Love the picture of the signage at night! The sun coming through the clouds is awesome! Will have to go back as many times as possible before they close for good.

    1. Thanks! I love the play between light and shadow as the sun fades.

  2. That’s a pretty photo of the sun setting and Maggie. This restaurant has been around forever so it’s sad to see them go. I love halibut. Have you ever purchased the halibut filets from Costco? They fish is quite fresh and cooks/grills nicely.

    1. Thanks! I love sunset photos.

I have not. How do you season it for grilling? I usually get it from Ranch 99 batter it and fry it. 🙂
