Bushfire Kitchen – Del Mar

I have been in this parking lot before.  Back when the world was younger and more innocent hot air balloons filled the sky.  I followed them on my bike as they liked to land at my high school.  When I grew up I wanted to ride in one and look from on high as some kid tried to follow on a bike.  My dream came true and this parking lot was where they picked us up in a van and we were driving to our hot air balloon.

This mall is busier and fancier now.  Bushfire Kitchen looks very nice and fancy.

Bacon burger with lettuce and tomato had a very strong char flavor while the bacon had a strong hickory flavor.  Overall this is a good burger but I’d prefer more hickory and less char on the beef which overwhelmed the nice beef flavor.  Sweet potato fries had a nice combination of flavors from the sweet potato and the salt.

Beer on tap.
Chickens cooking.

salads

Braised meats.

Next time I visit I’ll have to try the braised meats.  Sign up for the birthday club and get $10 off on your birthday.  Faye of Faye’s Fork posted about this place too.

  1. Yes! The epic hot air ballon ride was tremendously fun! Think the parking lot was bigger back then…less buildings.
Lovely pictures of the interior, especially admire the ceiling fixtures. They are quite creative. Perhaps you will enjoy the braised meats more on the next visit. Did the extra char taste like burnt meat?

  2. Thanks! I think the char was from too much meat being burnt.

  3. ooh discount on your birthday! i just signed up! 🙂

    1. Food taste better when it’s discounted!

  4. I liked your childhood story about chasing the hot air balloons. This area has changed quite a bit. Glad you had a nice meal here especially with the bday discount 🙂

    1. Thanks! 🙂 That’s cool you have noticed the changes too. It use to be really quiet.
